Who broke the "color line" in Major League Baseball?

When he stepped onto Ebbets field on April 15th, 1947, Jackie Robinson became the first African American in the twentieth century to play baseball in the major leagues -- breaking the "color line," a segregation practice dating to the nineteenth century.
