What is Cinco de Mayo?
Cinco de Mayo is a major Mexican holiday commemorating the victory of 4,000 Mexican soldiers over twice as many French troops at Puebla on May 5, 1862. The battle came to represent Mexican unity and patriotism.
Contrary to popular belief in the United States, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day, September 16, 1810.
