Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools' Winners
The Math Olympiads Program began in 1979, and involves a team of students (up to 35 members) meeting weekly for an hour. There are two different divisions, Division M for seventh and eighth graders and Division E for fourth through sixth graders. Five monthly contests range from November to March, in which individual team members take a test and the team score is the total of the ten highest individual scores after the final test. When it comes to personal recognition, the teammate with the highest score gets a trophy, the top ten percent from each division receives a silver or gold pin, and those with a perfect score gets a bronze medallion. In respect to the team, those in the top ten percent of their division get a plaque, and some participating teams also receive special certificates for their placing.
